Isabel Mestres: I’ll Never Forget the Past 10 Days
Isabel Mestres, CEO of the City Cancer Challenge (C/Can), shared a post on LinkedIn:
“I’ll never forget the past 10 days.
For the first time, I brought my husband and kids with me on a work trip, to spend time together, share experiences, and give them a feeling into the work I do.
We made 2 main stops:
- Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, we welcomed a new city to the C/Can family. Proud to stand alongside Minister of Health Hon. Pierre N’gou DIMBA, our committed local partners, the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs FDFA, Swiss Federal Councilor Elisabeth Baume-Schneider, and my collegue Sophie Bussmann-Kemdjo as we take this exciting step together toward equitable cancer care. (Time to brush up on my French!)
- Nairobi, Kenya, we celebrated a major milestone: the launch of the City Situation Analysis Report and 11 cancer priority projects. Nairobi is now moving from planning to implementation, the moment where real change begins.
A huge thank-you to Suzanne Silantoi. L, Elias Melly, Joan-Paula Bor Malenya, Beatrice Okumu, Marlene Mumukunde, Sophie Bussmann-Kemdjo and the entire C/Can team behind the scenes who made this possible. Your dedication, collaboration, and belief in this process continue to inspire me.
Meanwhile, my family explored the cities, soaked in the local culture and of course, made the most of the hotel pool. It was such a joy to come back after a full day and share stories, laughs, and downtime together.
We also made a very special stop at the Masai Mara, a place close to our hearts as a family.
That story deserves a post of its own, coming soon.”
