Are you wondering….why on earth are we still talking about women and health in 2025?
Sadly we have no choice Women’s cancer care remains chronically underfunded. In many low- and middle-income countries, 70% of women are still diagnosed too late. Only 2% of cancer research funding goes toward cancers that primarily affect women. And despite the clear economic case, women’s health continues to be treated as a cost, not a strategic investment.
At City Cancer Challenge (C/Can), we believe it’s time to rethink the approach, because the current messages clearly aren’t reaching the people who need to hear them.
That’s why we’ve brought together a group of women and men leaders from across our network of cities and partners to help rebuild the case for bold, sustained investment in women’s health: Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, Nwamaka Lasebikan, Elisabeth Staudinger, Dr Haidong Wang, Michael Oberreiter, Nana Mebonia, Carolina Goic, Carolyn Taylor and Marina Sigliano Vázquez.”
