Isabel Mestres: I’m deeply honoured to have been elected to the 2025–2027 NCD Alliance Board of Directors
Isabel Mestres, CEO at City Cancer Challenge Foundation, shared on LinkedIn:
“I’m deeply honoured to have been elected to the 2025–2027 NCD Alliance Board of Directors.
This is more than a professional milestone, it’s a personal one.
When I first stepped into global health over 15 years ago at Union for International Cancer Control (UICC), I witnessed the early days of the NCD Alliance. I watched with admiration as four bold organisations came together, despite the very real fear that their own voices might be diluted, to form a united front for people living with noncommunicable diseases.
It was a moment of true leadership and courage.. The founders put purpose before pride, people before institutions. They chose collective impact over individual visibility. That courage shaped a movement, and inspired me.
To now be part of that legacy is both humbling and energising.
Through City Cancer Challenge (C/Can), we’ve shown what collaboration can achieve. building systems from the ground up, city by city. I hope to bring to the Board a locally grounded, systems-thinking mindset, shaped by years of building multi-stakeholder partnerships, strengthening city-level health systems, and championing locally led action in LMIC
To the founders, the members and the staff, thank you. I’m here to listen, to serve, and to help people living with NCDs. Together.”
