Cancer Care in Conflict Zones: The Silent Struggle – Institute of Cancer and Crisis
Institute of Cancer and Crisis (ICC) shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Cancer Care in Conflict Zones: The Silent Struggle
In war-torn regions, cancer patients face an impossible battle—not just against the disease but against a collapsing healthcare system. Conflict and displacement create critical barriers to timely diagnosis, treatment, and palliative care.
- Hospitals Under Attack: Medical infrastructure is often destroyed, leaving patients with nowhere to turn.
- Disrupted Treatment: Chemotherapy and radiation require consistency—something impossible when hospitals are bombed or supply chains are cut.
- Refugee Crisis: Displaced populations struggle to access cancer care in host countries where healthcare systems are already overburdened.
- Financial Barriers: Many patients cannot afford treatment after losing homes, jobs, and financial stability due to war.
A recent Reuters article highlights the devastating reality for displaced cancer patients in Lebanon, where access to care is nearly impossible: Read more here.
At the Institute of Cancer and Crisis (ICC), we believe no cancer patient should be left without care—regardless of war or displacement. Tackling this issue requires global attention, policy changes, and humanitarian action.”
