How Inflammation – Caused by Aging, Obesity, Diabetes, or Chronic Infection
University of Miami Miller School of Medicine shared on LinkedIn:
“Meet Dr. Daniela Frasca and two of her former mentees, Kate Miller and Andrew Gelsomini, whose early research experience led to a co-authored publication in Nature Communications. Dr. Frasca’s lab focuses on how inflammation – caused by aging, obesity, diabetes, or chronic infection – impacts antibody responses. But for students like Kate and Andrew, the lab became much more than a research space.
“Dr. Frasca has been an incredible mentor,’ Kate shares. ‘Her support and guidance helped me grow both as a student and as a researcher.’
Andrew says, ‘The collaborative environment in her lab taught me how to conduct rigorous, publication-level research; and gave me friendships that have lasted beyond the bench.’
Today, Kate is a first-year medical student, and Andrew is pursuing his Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, continuing a path shaped by hands-on research and strong mentorship.”
