Hesham ElGhazaly: First Cancer Planners Forum by UICC
Hesham ElGhazaly, Elected President of the Executive Board at Egyptian Cancer Society, posted on LinkedIn:
“First Cancer Planners Forum — a truly landmark event bringing together visionary minds from around the Globe.
It was a privilege and deep honor to take part in the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC)’s inaugural Cancer Planners Forum, held just ahead of the World Health Assembly in Geneva.
Unique event that brought together over 100 participants, including cancer planners from 45 countries — most representing ministries of health — as well as key global partners like World Health Organization, International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), IARC – International Agency for Research on Cancer / World Health Organization and International Cancer Control Partnership (ICCP).
The Forum focused on practical, evidence informed approaches to strengthening national cancer control plans which had been great opportunity to share our Egyptian experience in presence of Prof. Maha Ibrahim Head of Specialized Centers Administration at Ministry of Health and Population – Egypt of Health.
I was especially proud to see strong participation from the MENA and Africa beside our beloved country including Algeria, Morocco, Nigeria offering valuable insights and regional leadership in cancer control planning.
What made this experience even more meaningful was sharing the space with my mentors and friends, whose guidance and encouragement continue to pave our way in the global fight against cancer Dr Elisabete Weiderpass, Zainab Shinkafi-Bagudu, Matti Aapro, Julie Gralow, Adda Bounedjar, Cary Adams, George Kapetanakis, Andre Ilbawi.
Thank you to UICC and all partner organizations for driving this global conversation forward.”
