Hedley Lewis: The power of reading for children and teenagers undergoing cancer treatment

“Thank you, Joburg City Theatres, for this incredible initiative.
Your generous support will enable CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation SA to harness the power of reading for children and teenagers undergoing cancer treatment.”
“This panto season in Joburg…
You can cheer up a child or teenager living with cancer by the simplest of acts…
Joburg City Theatres has partnered with CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation SA whereby they’re collecting children and teenage books at the theatre for distribution to the CHOC Houses and Paediatric Oncology Centres in Joburg!
It’s as simple as taking along a book (or two) your children no longer have a need for, and dropping them off at the theatre when you’re watching the panto.
They’ll be delivered to CHOC who’ll add it to their libraries for their children to enjoy while getting treatment.
Such an easy and simple way to make such a difference in a child’s life who’s living with cancer – and their siblings.
Please show your support if you can!
And in an additional show of support by the theatre, even if you’re not going through to see ‘Beauty and the Beast’ this year, you’re still welcome to drop off a book in the theatres foyer at Belle’s library that’s been set up there.”
Hedley Lewis is a Board Member at Childhood Cancer International, Chairman of the Childhood Cancer International – Africa Committee, and CEO of CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation SA. He leads a team that works closely with hospital administrators, medical professionals, volunteers, donors, NGOs, and staff to offer extensive support to childhood cancer patients and their families.
