Gabrielle van Ramshorst: Bridging Clinical and Basic Biomedical Research
Gabrielle van Ramshorst, Consultant Surgical Oncologist at Ghent University Hospital, shared on LinkedIn:
“Today 3 of my clinical students presented at the annual Research Symposium of the Department of Human Structure and Repair of Ghent University ‘Bridging Clinical and Basic Biomedical Research’. This symposium provides the opportunity for young people to gain experience with presenting research through poster presentations, oral presentations and pitching.
Andreas Denys as registrar in training presented his PhD project on sexual function and intimacy after pelvic exenteration, co-sponsored by ESSM School of Sexual Medecine and supported by the PelvEx group.
Lander Huybrechts who, as a master student, presented his master thesis on teaching pelvic side wall anatomy, a randomized study.
And finally Saar Vanden Berghe, a bachelor student, who presented the ESCP – European Society of Coloproctology WOLVERINE cohort study, soon to be launched and supported by Ethicon, Inc.
Most importantly: they all supported each other – and that’s what research is about: going faster together to improve the outcomes of our patients.”
