Françoise Meunier: Surviving Cancer Should Not Mean Being Penalized Financially for Years to Come
Françoise Meunier, Founder of the European Initiative on Ending Discrimination Against Cancer Survivors, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Today at the Cancer Patients Europe Annual Conference, we came together to discuss a vital theme: ‘Access for All: Bridging Inequalities in the Cancer Care Continuum.’
From prevention to diagnostics to survivorship, the event gathered policymakers, patient organisations, and cancer survivors to identify concrete solutions and share best practices.
In this context, I spoke about a too-often overlooked challenge: the financial toxicity many cancer survivors face when trying to access loans or mortgages. Surviving cancer should not mean being penalized financially for years to come.
Thank you Cancer Patients Europe for putting financial toxicity on the agenda, the right to be forgotten must become a priority for patient associations to end financial discrimination in Europe!”
