Françoise Meunier: Slovenia becomes the 9th EU country to introduce a binding legal framework around the Right to Be Forgotten

Françoise Meunier, Member of the Science Policy Committee at the European Academy of Cancer Sciences, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Excellent news coming from Slovenia!

The law proposal on the right to be forgotten has been unanimously approved. This is truly a landmark decision for cancer survivors. This legislation will ensure that survivors can no longer be discriminated against by insurers or financial institutions based on their medical history in Slovenia.

The timeline for application will be 5 years for individuals diagnosed before the age of 21 and 7 years for individuals diagnosed after the age of 21.
I would like to extend heartfelt congratulations to Tanja Spanic and her dedicated team at Europa Donna Slovenia for their pivotal role in making this happen, and all other stakeholders who have pushed relentlessly for this to happen.

Slovenia becomes the 9th country in the European Union to introduce a binding legal framework around the Right to Be Forgotten – let us continue working so that we reach all 27!
