Dinesh Raj Neupane Talked about Financial Toxicity of Cancer at the Public Health Conference
Dinesh Raj Neupane shared a post on LinkedIn:
“FINANCIAL TOXICITY OF CANCER
Yesterday, at the Public Health Conference, I had the chance to talk about something that really matters i.e. the financial toxicity that cancer puts on patients and their families.
We often talk about the physical side effects of cancer, but we don’t talk enough about financial toxicity, the stress, the sacrifices, and the silent suffering that comes with the cost of treatment. In a country like Nepal, where many pay for healthcare out of pocket, this burden doesn’t just affect individuals, it affects entire families and communities. It’s a serious public health issue that needs more attention, more understanding, and meaningful policy action.
I believe that if we dig deeper into this issue with empathy and evidence, we can push for reforms that truly make a difference.
Shout-out and big thanks to Nawaraj Bhattarai and Sunil Shrestha for mentoring me in this review
I would like to acknowledge Bishal Gyawali as I am inspired by him for this presentation and this study.”
Bishal Gyawali, Associate Professor at Queen’s University, shared this post, adding:
“I’m glad that you are studying and spreading message about this important topic. We also recently published a scoping review on the various definition used to define FT in LMICs.”
Title: Defining and Measuring Financial Toxicity in Low- and Middle-Income Countries
Authors: Stephanie G. Raptis, Brian Shkabari, Saquib Banday, and Bishal Gyawali,
