Federico Mastroleo: Make Radiation Oncology cool again – one brick at a time
Federico Mastroleo, Radiation Oncologist at IEO European Institute of Oncology, posted on LinkedIn:
“Dear Santa,
As is tradition, we are writing to you again this year with a small (but critical) request for the year ahead.
By now, you’ve probably heard about the low number of residents applying to Radiation Oncology in Italy yet again. we know this isn’t just an Italian problem; other countries are facing it too.
But don’t worry—we’ve come up with a solution that’s both fun and practical: could you create a LEGO set of a Radiation Oncologist Resident?
Think about it! It could feature tiny LINACs, microscopic CT simulators, and a resident figure complete with a happy expression. Honestly, it might be the closest thing to a real-life radiation oncology resident that we’ll see for a while!
What do you say, Santa? Help us make Radiation Oncology cool again—one brick at a time.
Warm regards

P.S.2 The image below is, of course, AI-generated. Because, like Radiation Oncology residents, good artists are also hard to find these days!”
