Fabio Ynoe de Moraes: Thrilled to witness the incredible journey of my mentee and student, Fernanda Malucelli Favorito

Fabio Ynoe de Moraes, Associate Professor at Queen’s University, shared a LinkedIn post by Fernanda Malucelli Favorito, Medical student (MS4/6) at Santa Casa de São Paulo’s School of Medicine, adding:

“Thrilled to witness the incredible journey of my mentee and student, Fernanda Malucelli Favorito. Her dedication and passion for the medical field and research are truly inspiring.

It was an honor to present Fernanda with the opportunity to become a visiting scholar at Queen’s University, Kingston Health Sciences Centre and Dunin-Deshpande Queen’s Innovation Centre through the institutional scholarship program (Faculty of Medical Sciences of Santa Casa de São Paulo). Her reflection on the transformative experience abroad, embracing cultural exchanges, and deep dives into Health Services Research in oncology, digital health, and medical education, showcases the depth of her commitment and curiosity.

The journey from an eager student in the audience to a key participant in such a prestigious program highlights the power of determination and the importance of seizing every opportunity that comes your way. Fernanda’s acknowledgment of the individuals who have contributed to her growth, including Roberta Sessa Stilhano Yamaguchi and Wagner Montor, underscores the collaborative spirit of the medical and research communities.

I am humbled by her kind words and grateful for the opportunity to mentor such a brilliant and promising individual. Fernanda’s gratitude towards our collaborative efforts fills me with pride and anticipation for what the future holds (at least 4 publications and more on the go).

Together, we aim to continue making meaningful contributions to healthcare and to foster growth and learning in every endeavor we undertake.

Here’s to more achievements, collaborations, and breakthroughs in our journey ahead.”

Quoting Fernanda Malucelli Favorito’s post:

“Yesterday I had the opportunity to present the institutional scholarship program that allowed me to spend two months on-site as a visiting scholar at Queen’s University and Kingston Health Sciences Centre to incoming students at Faculty of Medical Sciences of Santa Casa de São Paulo. Just over three years ago, I myself sat on that audience and hoped to one day be able to participate in the program.

Reflecting on my experience abroad through the Pesquisadores do Futuro scholarship, I’m filled with gratitude for the transformative opportunities it provided. From grand cultural exchange to delving into the depths of Health Services Research (HSR) in oncology, digital health, and medical education, every moment was a profound learning journey.

During my time in Kingston, I had the privilege of exploring various research methodologies, databases, and honing my skills in scientific writing. From observing clinics to experiencing brachytherapy firsthand, each encounter added layers to my understanding of the field. I am extremely thankful to Roberta Sessa Stilhano Yamaguchi and Wagner Montor for trusting me with this opportunity, as well as to all the professionals that took the time to show me a bit of the oncology world through their lens and teach me such incredible lessons during my time there.

I owe a debt of gratitude to Dr. Fabio Ynoe de Moraes for crafting such an extraordinary experience. His mentorship has been invaluable, guiding me through intricate projects and fostering growth every step of the way.

As I look back on this chapter, I feel privileged to now call Dr. Fabio a mentor and eagerly anticipate the possibilities that our current and future collaborations hold. Here’s to embracing every opportunity and making meaningful contributions in the world of healthcare and beyond.”
