Celia Diez de los Rios: European Cancer Nursing Day — A Moment of Pride, But Also a Reminder

Celia Diez de los Rios, Oncology Advanced Nurse Practitioner, Nurse Research Assistant at University of Glasgow, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“European Cancer Nursing Day — a moment of pride, but also a reminder.
I really love this week when nurses are on everyone’s lips — from International Nurses Day on Monday to today’s celebration around cancer nurses . But as I said on World Cancer Day: when we still need official days to spotlight a profession or cause, it means there’s still work to do.
European Cancer Nursing Day, driven by the European Oncology Nursing Society (EONS), exists to highlight a vital truth:
  •  Specialised cancer nurses are key to improving patient outcomes and safety.
  •  Yet, their recognition, training, and support still vary widely across countries.
This year’s theme — ‘Beyond Borders’ — says it all.
It’s about collaboration, unity, and shared purpose. It’s about crossing professional, institutional, and national boundaries to ensure every patient gets the best care, and every cancer nurse gets the recognition and tools they need.
So let’s go beyond borders — together.
For better care. For stronger nursing. For equity in cancer support.”European Cancer Nursing Day
