Eugene Woods: The Next Decade Will Reshape Healthcare In Ways We Can Hardly Imagine
Eugene Woods, Chief Executive Officer of Advocate Health, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“The next decade will reshape healthcare in ways we can hardly imagine.
Artificial intelligence, climate change, aging populations, shifting policies, and rising mental health needs are among the many factors transforming the landscape.
But despite all the unknowns in healthcare, we know one thing for certain: we need human-centered leadership.
Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about what we are called to do as leaders during these times of uncertainty.
In a Becker’s Hospital Review article this week, I outline five imperatives:
- Lead with values, not just strategy.
- Practice ‘applied hope’.
- Rebuild trust—internally and externally.
- Use innovation to advance access, not just efficiency.
- Reconnect to purpose, relentlessly.
These aren’t just leadership traits but calls to action. Because the future of healthcare won’t be shaped by external factors alone. It will be shaped by what we build and who we build it for.
