Alisher Kahharov, Associate Professor of Oncology at Tashkent Medical Academy, shared a post on Facebook:
“Empowering Oncology: Highlights from the ESO European School of Oncology Ambassadors Meeting.
As I look back on my journey that began 12 years ago with the European School of Oncology, I’m overwhelmed with gratitude and pride. This incredible platform has been instrumental in shaping my career and personal growth, providing countless opportunities to connect with brilliant minds – friends and mentors who have enriched my life.
ESO stands out as a beacon of knowledge exchange and networking, bringing together professionals united by a passion for advancing oncology education and practice.
In my role as an ESO ambassador, I proudly promote the school’s impactful activities in my country, contributing to its strategic development and witnessing its evolution firsthand.
Our recent meeting on February 22, 2025, was a testament to our collective ambition. Ambassadors from around the world convened to brainstorm ways to enhance ESO’s operations and outreach.
We explored exciting prospects, such as expanding our engagement criteria to include diverse age groups and geographic regions. ESO is truly transcending borders, embodying European values and ideals. It’s heartening to see how many countries are eager to join our mission, reinforcing the school’s reputation on a global scale.
As we look to the future, we’re also considering new forms of engagement, ensuring opportunities for everyone – from students to Fellows and Faculty members. We discussed how we can support our alumni as they transition through different stages of their careers, providing valuable resources and connections as they grow and eventually move beyond the school’s traditional criteria.
This approach guarantees that ESO remains a dynamic and inclusive environment dedicated to lifelong learning and professional advancement, nurturing our graduates as they embark on their professional journeys.
Moreover, discussions highlighted the importance of forging collaborations and partnerships with various regions, amplifying our impact worldwide. In August 2025, we anticipate a significant gathering in Budapest for ESCO representatives, marking a crucial step in our journey.
Next year holds special significance as we celebrate ESO’s 50th anniversary – a time to reflect on our achievements and set ambitious goals for the future. We are planning meaningful celebrations to honor this milestone, highlighting ESO’s legacy and potential in countries worldwide.
Join us as we continue to innovate and collaborate, striving for excellence in oncology education. Together, we can make a profound difference in the field and pave the way for future generations.”
