Emmanuella-Faith Amoako: Awo’s Brave Journey isn’t Just a Story-It’s a Lifeline
Emmanuella-Faith Amoako, Paediatric Oncology Fellow at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, shared a post on LinkedIn:
““When we came here, she didn’t want to take her meds. But after reading the book and seeing that Awo went home, she decided to take her medicines and be more cheerful during hospital visits.” — Parent of a child with cancer
When myself, Lily Gloria Tagoe and Nat Obour – Awuku put this together, we knew it was going to help children, but we never imagined to what extent. Hearing this makes it all worthwhile.
Awo’s Brave Journey isn’t just a story-it’s a lifeline. Through the power of representation and courage, children facing cancer are finding hope, comfort, and strength.
Every page reminds them they’re not alone. Every illustration helps them feel seen. And every brave step Awo takes makes it easier for a child to take theirs.
Thank you to every parent, healthcare worker, and child who has joined us on this journey. This is why we do what we do.
We need to print more of these books and translate to other dialects to make more impact. Reach out if you want to be part of this huge dream!”
