Elizabeth Ugwoma Awo-Ejeh: Mental stress is something we hardly talk about, yet it’s something almost everyone carries
Elizabeth Ugwoma Awo-Ejeh, Manager at Ugwoma Beauty Salon and Spa, shared on LinkedIn:
” ‘Are you truly Okay?’
Mental stress is something we hardly talk about, yet it’s something almost everyone carries. It’s the invisible weight behind the smiles, the forced laughter, and the silent stares. Society often tells us to ‘be strong,’ but it rarely teaches us how to rest, how to breathe, or how to say ‘I’m not okay.’
Sometimes, it’s not a loud shout but a quiet pressure – the kind that creeps in from expectations we never agreed to, from comparisons we never signed up for. It could come from family, from deadlines, from scrolling through the lives of others and wondering if you’re falling behind. Even the strongest among us get tired.
But here’s the truth: you are not weak for feeling overwhelmed. You are human. You are allowed to pause. You are allowed to cry. And you are allowed to seek help.
Let’s normalize asking: ‘Are you truly okay?’
Let’s be honest when we answer.
Let’s remove the shame around needing rest, therapy, support, or solitude.
You don’t have to carry it all. You don’t have to prove anything to anyone.
Your peace is more important than perfection.
Your mental health matters.
So today, take a deep breath.
You’ve come this far, and that is enough.
Let’s keep breaking the silence, one honest conversation at a time.”
