Douglas Flora: Grateful for Dedicated Teams at St. Elizabeth, AI in Precision Oncology, ACCC, ACS, and Beyond
Douglas Flora, Executive Medical Director of the Yung Family Cancer Center at St. Elizabeth Healthcare and President-Elect of the Association of Cancer Care Centers, shared a post on LinkedIn:
” ‘It is good people who make good places.’ – Anna Sewell
Most of you who follow me here know that one of my greatest PTO pleasures is a bit of quiet study time while my young adult children sleep in on our family vacations. We’re out here today in beautiful Bend, Oregon, and I finally found a few hours to dive into a book that’s been sitting on my shelf for some time.
Compelling insights, including some great pearls on culture, self-improvement, and the critical importance of having the “right people on the bus,” a la Jim Collins.
As I highlight these pages, one repeated message resonates profoundly: our people are our greatest capital and opportunity.
“When culture thrives, you attract talented people who perform exceptionally on behalf of the business, which in turn drives positive growth in your numbers.”
The author advises, “You must train yourself to think of culture as a contributing factor to every challenge and every success you face in business.”
I feel incredibly blessed to be surrounded by so many dedicated and talented people across my teams at St. Elizabeth, AI in Precision Oncology, ACCC, ACS, and my other endeavors. It’s inspiring to witness so many working so hard to save countless individuals and families from devastating diseases, and the strong cultures that drive them to want to help. My old man back is feeling so much better, and I’m about to head out for my first hike in over a year! Grateful to have all of my teams and colleagues in my life on this sunny morning. I appreciate you.”
