Douglas Flora: Daily stories of real patients who are here today because of what you do every day
Douglas Flora, Executive Medical Director of Oncology Services at St. Elizabeth Healthcare and ACCC President-Elect, shared a post on LinkedIn:
” ‘Research is to see what everybody else has seen, and to think what nobody else has thought.’ – Albert Szent-Györgyi.
For anyone who needs a little inspiration this morning – whether you’re in the lab, at the bedside, or behind the scenes in healthcare innovation – look no further than my brother, Daniel Flora, MD, PharmD. His Substack, ‘Living Proof’, shares daily stories of real patients who are here today because of what you do every day.
Keep pushing.
Cancer research is making rapid strides. Since the early 1990s, the cancer death rate in the U.S. has dropped by 33% – that’s nearly 3.8 million fewer deaths, thanks to earlier detection, better treatment, and research breakthroughs (American Cancer Society, 2024).
This is why supporting cancer research is critical. We’re not just moving the needle – we’re accelerating progress. And this is no time to take our foot off the gas.”
