“Globally, 1 in 7 adolescents experience Mental Health conditions, and suicide is the third leading cause of death among young people aged 15 to 29. These figures underscore the urgent need for action to protect and support young people’s mental health.
I thank Dr. Tedros for his leadership and H.E. Mr. Xu Chen, Permanent Representative of the People’s Republic of China and H.E. Mr. Paul Bekkers, Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of the Netherlands for hosting the official launch of the new WHO and UNICEF Service Guidance on Mental Health for Children and Young People.
