Sara Ambjørn Joined the Danish Cancer Institute to Advance CRISPR-Based Cancer Research
Danish Cancer Institute shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Meet the Scientists of the DCI.
Assistant Professor Sara Ambjørn is part of the Cell Signaling and Cell Cycle group, led by Professor Jakob Nilsson. She’s also taking on a central role in shaping the new basic research center here at the Danish Cancer Institute, EpiC.
Sara’s research explores how cells communicate through intricate signalling pathways – processes which are hijacked in cancer. Her work focuses on decoding the molecular language that cancer cells can use to grow, survive and evade the body’s defences.
Using cutting-edge CRISPR technologies, including base editing and large-scale CRISPR screens, Sara is able to make precise changes to the DNA – sometimes altering just a single base. This enables her to investigate how tiny genetic variations can influence protein interactions and disrupt normal cell function. By mapping these changes at scale, Sara’s work is helping to reveal critical vulnerabilities in cancer cells – with the long-term goal of identifying new targets for more effective treatments.
Welcome to the DCI Sara – we look forward to following your exciting work!”
