Sahak Azizyan: Colorectal Cancer – Signs, Early Detection, and Prevention
Sahak Azizyan, Medical Oncology at Center for Hematology and Oncology of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Armenia, shared a post on Facebook:
“COLORECTAL CANCER: SIGNS, EARLY DETECTION, and PREVENTION. Colorectal cancer most often occurs in the large intestine or rectum.
Symptoms are:
Weight loss without any reason
Intestinal dysfunction diarrhea, constipation, feeling of incomplete emptying of the intestines
Abdominal discomfort, pain, flatulence (presence of gases),
Change in stool form, may be thinner than normal
Persistent weakness, fatigue
Unexplained iron deficiency anemia (decreased hemoglobin, red blood cell count by blood test).
If the above symptoms persist for several weeks or worsen over time, it is necessary to consult a doctor and, if necessary, undergo a colonoscopy.
However, many people with colorectal cancer do not experience any symptoms until the disease is in its late stages, which is why regular screening is necessary.
If detected early, it is often fully treatable.
If you have similar complaints, get tested and detect cancer at an earlier stage. Make an appointment
