Colin Stirling: Flinders HealthCARE Centre – a game changer for our community
Colin Stirling, Director at General Sir John Monash Foundation, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Today, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese announced the Flinders HealthCARE Centre – a game changer for our community, delivering better healthcare, faster access, and a stronger health workforce.
With bipartisan support from the Coalition, Flinders University is making a fearless $150 million investment, matched by the Australian Government, to deliver a state-of-the-art $300 million integrated healthcare facility that will:
- Provide 10,000 additional low-cost medical, nursing, and allied health appointments to the community every year
- Deliver 1,300 extra work-ready healthcare graduates annually, including nurses, paramedics, midwives, physiotherapists, and other allied health professionals, to tackle critical workforce shortages
- Offer unparalleled clinical training opportunities for Flinders students
Located next to our Health and Medical Research Building in Flinders Village, the Flinders HealthCARE Centre will become the new home of Flinders University’s College of Nursing and Health Sciences, providing students an unprecedented learning environment. Shaping the future of healthcare, design and development will begin this year, with construction set to start in 2027.
For more than 50 years, Flinders University has led the way as Australia’s first university embedded in a public hospital. Today’s announcement cements that legacy, ensuring world-class care and training for generations to come.”
Jayne Flaherty, Governor at AmCham Australia, shared a post by Colin Stirling, adding:
“Congratulations to an incredible group of Flinders University people who brought this vision to life: Mark Gregory, Shane Jennings, Michelle Miller, Sally Warner, Erin Ruff, Rebecca Golley, Peta Pool, Raymond Chan, Romy Lawson, Deborah West, Jonathan Craig, Richard Porter, Jorge Garcia, Amanda Gilliland, Louise Mathwin, to name a few…
It takes a village. A Flinders Village. Congratulations.”
