Laura Ortiz-Ravick: We’re working to make clinical trials more accessible and equitable
Laura Ortiz-Ravick, Director of Outreach and Health Promotion at The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, shared a post by National Association of Hispanic Nurses (NAHN) on LinkedIn, adding:
“The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society is incredibly honored to bring together two powerhouse organizations – the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) and the National Association of Hispanic Nurses (NAHN) — to support the nurses who stand at the frontlines of care and the patients and families they serve.
On May 1 at 6 PM ET, we’ll present a free, CE-eligible webinar titled Clinical Trial Literacy: Empowering Nurses to Educate Hispanic Patients. This important session will explore the clinical trial process, highlight the nurse’s role in guiding patients, and address common barriers to participation in Hispanic communities. It will also introduce culturally sensitive communication strategies and provide resources from both LLS and ONS.
Special thanks to Jessica MacIntyre and Christopher Otero for your leadership and steadfast commitment to our communities. And to my incredible LLS colleagues, Lauren Berger, Leslie Hoerst, and Leah Szumita — your dedication to reaching and supporting providers serving vulnerable patients continues to inspire me every day.
Together, we’re working to make clinical trials more accessible and equitable.”
