City Cancer Challenge – Nairobi Launches 11 Locally-Led Projects to Transform its Cancer Care Journey
City Cancer Challenge (C/Can) posted on LinkedIn:
“After joining City Cancer Challenge (C/Can) in 2023, Nairobi brought together patients, clinicians, policymakers, and partners to ask a simple question: what do we need to change to improve cancer care for all?
The answer is now clear: 11 projects, co-created with local expertise and supported by C/Can, that will transform Nairobi’s cancer care landscape.
Each project addresses a critical gap—from quality of care and digital infrastructure to paediatric services and community engagement—grounded in evidence and aligned with Kenya’s National Cancer Control Strategy.
These solutions are built on:
– Contributions from 250 patients
– Insights from 112 health professionals
– Input from 21 institutions and 20 civil society organisations
“These are more than technical projects. They are a blueprint for sustainable, equitable change—led by the people of Nairobi, for the people of Nairobi.” – said Isabel Mestres, CEO of C/Can.
As we move from planning to implementation, Nairobi is not just transforming its health system, it’s showing the way for others around the world.”
