While 67% of the health workforce are women, they hold just 25% of leadership roles – City Cancer Challenge
City Cancer Challenge shared a post on LinkedIn:
“While 67% of the health workforce are women, they hold just 25% of leadership roles – especially in oncology across low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). This limits not only innovation in cancer care, but also the resilience of our health systems. That’s why we launched the Leadership Programme for Women in Oncology (LPWO): to equip mid-career women oncologists from LMICs with the leadership skills, networks, and support needed to drive change.
The evidence is clear:
Healthier women = healthier communities, stronger economies.
Closing the women’s health gap could add $1 trillion to the global economy by 2040.
Investing in women leaders is not a luxury – it’s a long-term strategy for resilience, equity, and growth.
At C/Can, we believe gender-inclusive leadership is essential for cancer control – and central to building sustainable health systems for all. Read how we’re breaking barriers in oncology and why investing in women leaders is good for global health – and good for the economy.”
