Almost all cancer treatments used in children today were actually developed for adults – Children’s Cancer Institute
Children’s Cancer Institute shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Did you know that almost all cancer treatments used in children today were actually developed for adults?
But childhood cancer is not simply adult cancer in a child’s body. Cancers in children are often different in their causes, the way they grow and spread, and how they respond to treatment.
We need dedicated research to understand, treat and ultimately find a cure for all children with cancer.
And that’s exactly what we’re doing right now in our labs!
‘Children’s Cancer Institute exists solely to put an end to childhood cancer. We don’t just hope to do it, we will do it’ says Professor Michelle Haber AM, Executive Director, Children’s Cancer Institute.
Children’s Cancer Institute is the only independent medical research institute in Australia wholly dedicated to curing childhood cancer. With the brightest brains, cutting-edge facilities, and the greatest determination, we will get the job done.”
