Asim Belgaumi: Working with Pakistan on the Global Platform for Access to Childhood Cancer Medicines
Asim Belgaumi, , shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Working with Pakistan on the Global Platform for Access to Childhood Cancer Medicines (GPACCM)
Last week I was privileged to be part of the mission to Pakistan to meet and discuss the process for implementation of the GPACCM in the country.
This is a St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital/WHO initiative, in partnership with UNICEF and the PAHO Strategic Fund to improve the access to chemotherapy for children with cancer in LMIC. This includes not just the provision of free of cost medications, but also improvement in the the capacity and capability of the entire logistic and supply chain for receiving, storing, dispensing and administering chemotherapy to these children.
It was very encouraging to see the commitment and enthusiasm that the key in-country stakeholders, including the Federal and Provincial Ministries of Health, and the healthcare providers, have shown. We had very positive meetings with the Federal Minister of National Health Services (Syed Mustafa Kamal) and Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed Bharath (Minister of State), and heard their commitment to the project.”
