Closing the gap in childhood cancer care and research this World Health Day – SIOP Europe
SIOP Europe, the European Society for Paediatric Oncology (SIOPE) shared a post on LinkedIn:
“This World Health Day, let’s close the gap in childhood cancer care and research!
Across Europe, too many children face unequal access to life-saving cancer treatment. As an regional accredited non-State actor with of WHO/Europe and prominent voice in European Union advocacy, SIOPE is working to change that.
The WHO Regional Office for Europe report on Childhood Cancer Inequalities highlights the disparities in care across the region – from delayed diagnoses to limited treatment options.
The EU has recently included childhood cancer in its Cancer Inequalities Registry and enables the European Reference Network on Paediatric Cancer (ERN PaedCan). We must continue to act to ensure every child, everywhere, has access to the care they need.
Read about these initiatives in the WHO Europe report here.
Every child deserves equal access to cancer care. Let’s make sure children are part of the Health For All commitment.”
