Chandandeep Kaur: Advances in Preventing Chemotherapy-Induced Hair Loss

Chandandeep Kaur, Scientific Writer/Consultant at Happiest Health shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Advances in Preventing Chemotherapy-Induced Hair Loss.

Scalp cooling reduces chemotherapy-induced hair loss by constricting blood vessels in the scalp, lowering blood flow to hair follicles, and limiting their exposure to chemotherapy drugs. Suhail Qureshi states, ‘Scalp cooling can achieve a 20-30% reduction in hair loss, especially in breast cancer patients.’

Other emerging therapies include low-intensity ultrasound to protect hair follicles from damage and the use of stem cells, extracellular vesicles, and growth factors with ultrasound to promote follicular regeneration in cases of persistent alopecia (pCIA).”
