Voice of the families: Nasru and his father – CANCaRe Africa

“Voice of the families Post 23: Nasru and his father.
Nasru, an 8-year-old boy from Sokoru, was brought to Jimma University Medical Center’s pediatric oncology unit after his mother discovered an abdominal mass. Nasru was diagnosed with Burkitt’s lymphoma. He immediately began treatment at the hospital.
His father, who is a father of six, two daughters and four sons, with Nasru being the fifth—faced significant challenges during this time, he had to stop farming to stay by Nasru’s side, as his son’s treatment required frequent appointments.
Despite the many hardships, he expressed deep gratitude to the hospital staff for their dedicated care and particularly thanked the Tesfa Addis parents children cancer organization (TAPCCO), a local non-governmental organization for covering some of the medical and laboratory expenses, as well as providing accommodation at the guest house.
Though Nasru has completed his treatment, he has not yet fully responded to the therapy. Still, this brave father holds on to hope for his son’s recovery. Let us extend our thoughts and support to Nasru and his family.
Appropriate consent given.”
