Stepping Up for a Cause: Brian Tyler Joins the CEO Challenge to End Cancer

Cancer affects us all—whether directly or through the lives of loved ones. But each year, there’s an opportunity for leaders and teams across the country to come together, get moving, and make a meaningful impact in the fight against cancer. That opportunity is the American Cancer Society’s CEO Challenge, and this year, Brian Tyler, CEO of McKesson, proudly stepped up once again.

“Each year, I’m excited to participate in the American Cancer Society CEO Challenge, racing virtually alongside my peers to raise awareness and promote cancer prevention. I’ve already logged over 40,000 steps, and I encourage Team McKesson to join me in supporting the Fit2BeCancerFree Challenge,” said Tyler. “Together, we can take steps toward ending cancer!”

Brian Tyler Walks the Talk

Brian’s 40,000+ steps aren’t just a show of solidarity—they reflect his commitment to championing health and wellness, not only within McKesson but in communities around the country. His call to action resonates deeply with McKesson employees: that preventing cancer and supporting those affected by it starts with small steps—and those steps can add up to big change.

What Is the Fit2BeCancerFree Challenge?

Hosted by the American Cancer Society, the Fit2BeCancerFree Challenge is a one-day virtual step competition that brings CEOs and their employees together to track their activity, raise awareness about cancer prevention, and promote healthier lifestyles. Participants wear fitness trackers throughout the day, logging their steps and sharing their efforts on social media to help inspire others.

But the challenge goes beyond step counts. It’s about igniting conversations around cancer prevention, spotlighting the importance of early detection, and raising support for the vital research and services the American Cancer Society provides. The energy and momentum of the challenge ripple far beyond one day of movement—it’s about building a culture of wellness and purpose.

Meet Team McKesson

For Team McKesson, participating in the Fit2BeCancerFree Challenge is more than a wellness activity—it’s a reflection of who we are. Our purpose has always been rooted in improving health outcomes, and this challenge gave us a chance to live out that mission in a hands-on, hearts-in way.

From early morning walks to post-meeting strolls, and from treadmill runs to after-dinner dog walks, McKesson team members across departments and time zones joined in. We saw employees share photos, post their step counts, and encourage their colleagues. Some walked in honor of loved ones who had battled cancer. Others participated simply to be part of something meaningful.

This sense of shared purpose is part of what defines our culture at McKesson: we lead with integrity, put people first, and always act with purpose.

Celebrating the 2025 CEO Challenge Winners

While the challenge is about unity and impact—not competition—it’s still fun to celebrate the incredible dedication shown by this year’s top steppers. Congratulations to the 2025 CEO Challenge winners!
