Chinenye Iwuji Shared Key Takeaways from Day 2 of Best of ASCO Africa Conference in Addis Ababa
Chinenye Iwuji, Head of Medical Oncology at Lakeshore Cancer Center, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Started the day with a wonderful 5k run through the vibrant streets of Addis Ababa, I am truly impressed by the city’s rapid development!
Afterwards, it was straight into Day 2 of the Best of ASCO, AORTIC conference.Beyond the fantastic scientific updates, a few points truly resonated with me:
We had lively discussions around the critical challenge of talent migration in healthcare and how we can best stem the tide. This is such a vital conversation for our future, especially in low-resource countries.
It was remarkable to see the latest data confirming that structured exercise can reduce the risk of cancer recurrence by almost 40%. This truly highlights the holistic approach we need to take in oncology, integrating lifestyle interventions with treatment.
This also serves as a great reminder of the core tenets of common sense oncology: translating cutting-edge evidence into practical, real-world solutions for our patients.”
