Bérengère Beauplet, Associate Researcher at Anticipe, shared on LinkedIn:
“Conference highlight / Bridging evidence and everyday practice.
SIOG – International Society of Geriatric Oncology Methods Study Group session SIOG26 chaired by Sophie Pilleron and Jennifer Lund.
An inspiring presentation by Bridget O’ Sullivan (Dublin, Ireland) entitled:
‘Using the GERONTE Participatory Rapid Appraisal and Focus Groups Co-design Method as a Practical Way to Integrate Evidence-Based Change into Routine Practice.’
The presentation highlighted the importance of involving stakeholders and practitioners in the process of translating research evidence into meaningful, sustainable changes in everyday practice.
The GERONTE approach offers a valuable participatory framework, bringing together rapid appraisal, focus groups and co-design to better understand real-world needs, identify barriers and facilitators, and develop solutions that are relevant to the people who will implement and experience them.
A key takeaway:
Evidence-based change is more likely to succeed when it is not simply introduced into practice, but developed collaboratively with those who know the context best.
Thank you, Bridget, for sharing this valuable experience and demonstrating how participatory approaches can help bridge the gap between research, innovation and routine practice.”
