Ashok Sebastian Komaranchath, Consultant Medical Oncologist and Clinical Lead for Oncology Services at Burjeel Cancer Institute, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Pain management is an often overlooked yet indispensable facet of oncology care. Contrary to popular perception, Pain and palliative care doesn’t start when the cancer is advanced or incurable. It starts with diagnosis of cancer IRRESPECTIVE of stage or site, and continues to through out treatment, during follow up and indeed, till end-of-life.
This course taught me this and more…Every patient deserves the right to live with dignity, freedom and with all the compassion we can give them.
Deeply indebted to Aju Mathew and M.R Rajagopal for conducting this course, and later on giving me the honour of being one of its course directors from 2022-23.”
