Dean Crowe: There are too many cancers that just kids get that are grossly underfunded

Dean Crowe, Founder & CEO Rally Foundation for Childhood Cancer Research, reshared a post by  on LinkedIn, adding:

“Albert Bourla, Chris Boshoff, FMedSci and Pfizer great commercial!

I am curious did you produce a drug that helped that young cancer warrior ring the bell?

While your commercial raises awareness and envokes an emotional response, it makes me wonder if you are using a child to play on our heart strings or did you actually fund research and the clinical trial that saved this young child?

As the founder and CEO of the Rally Foundation for Childhood Cancer Research, I would welcome a thoughtful and honest conversation with you. I am hopeful that one of your 8 breakthroughs by 2030 will be for a childhood cancer–one that affects kids; not kids and adults. There are too many cancers that just kids get that are grossly underfunded.

Thank you for highlighting a kid’s brutal battle. My hope is that Pfizer is putting not only massive advertising dollars behind featuring a kid beating cancer, but also putting massive dollars for innovative treatments that will save kids from cancer by 2030.

Please reach out and I look forward to working together. We need you. More importantly, the kids really need you!”

“During tonight’s Big Game, we declared a bold aspiration to deliver eight potential cancer breakthroughs by 2030.

But this isn’t just a campaign, it is a promise. A promise to harness the most cutting-edge technology, a promise to drive innovation and science, and a promise to work with partners like the American Cancer Society. All in pursuit of defeating diseases like cancer.

At Pfizer, we’re working to build a community of support to help millions of people across the country and around the world to take control of their health.

As a first step, I hope you’ll visit, where you can join us in the fight and understand what you can do for your health. Cancer is relentless, but we’re stronger.”
