ASPIRE for Lung Cancer shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Introducing the 6th episode of the APAC Lung Cancer Consensus Video Series.
Just 1 day to go until the APAC Lung Cancer Policy Consensus Launch – happening tomorrow, Thursday, 31st July (10 AM – 12 PM UTC+8)
As we approach this milestone moment, we’re proud to share Episode 6, featuring Assistant Professor Yeon Wook Kim, pulmonologist at Seoul National University, South Korea.
In this episode, Asst Prof Kim emphasises the urgent need to scale up lung cancer screening and early detection across the Asia Pacific region, where over 60% of global lung cancer cases and deaths occur. Despite progress in reducing smoking rates, South Korea and the wider region continue to face alarming cancer-related mortality.
Asst Prof Kim highlights the power of regional collaboration and consensus to catalyse real-world change, urging stakeholders to unite in turning awareness into action.
Key insights shared by Asst Prof Kim include:
- Asia Pacific bears the world’s highest lung cancer burden – unified efforts are essential
- Early detection must go hand-in-hand with equitable access and public engagement
- Consensus-based collaboration can guide policy and improve population-level care
Watch Episode 6 to hear Asst Prof Kim’s call to action for governments, clinicians, and civil society to drive progress together.”
