The 5th Episode of the APAC Lung Cancer Consensus Video Series – ASPIRE for Lung Cancer
ASPIRE for Lung Cancer shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Introducing the 5th episode of the APAC Lung Cancer Consensus Video Series.
Just 3 days to go until the APAC Lung Cancer Policy Consensus Launch on Thursday, 31 July!
As part of our countdown to this milestone event, we’re pleased to share Episode 5, featuring Dr Annie Wong, medical oncologist from Aotearoa New Zealand.
In this episode, Dr Wong reflects on the urgent need for system-level change to address inequities in lung cancer outcomes, particularly for Māori patients and rural communities. She emphasises the importance of indigenous-led care models, community engagement, and culturally safe health systems in achieving true equity.
Dr Wong also highlights the growing divide in access to precision oncology across the region. As molecular testing and biomarker-informed therapies become standard in lung cancer care, investment in diagnostic technology and equitable infrastructure is critical to ensure no patient is left behind.
Key insights shared by Dr Wong include:
- Equity requires more than funding – it demands systemic, culturally informed change
- Indigenous and engagement-led care models are essential to improve outcomes
- Regional collaboration and investment in precision medicine are key to closing access gaps
Watch Episode 5 to hear Dr Wong’s call to action for policymakers, industry, and the cancer care community to drive equity across APAC.
Don’t forget to register for the virtual launch event on 31 July and join this important regional conversation.”
