Angela Mastronuzzi: Glioblastoma Awareness Day – Support research. Honor the fighters
Angela Mastronuzzi, Head of Neuro-Oncology Unit at Bambino Gesù Children’s Hospital and President of AIEOP, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Today is Glioblastoma Awareness Day.
Glioblastoma is known as one of the most rare, aggressive braintumors – but what many people don’t realize is that it also affects children. These pediatric high-grade gliomas behave differently from adult ones, spread in different ways, and often don’t respond to the same treatments.
Some forms are treatable, but others – such as DMG/ DIPG – are almost always fatal. That’s why childhood brain tumors urgently need their own focused research.
On this day, and everyday, we stand with the smallest warriors fighting this enormous battle.
We advocate for:
- More research focused on pediatric gliomas
- Better, child-specific treatment options
- Greater awareness of childhood brain cancers
Spread the word. Support research. Honor the fighters.”
