Andrew Sellergren: Announcing CT Foundation for advanced radiology AI
Andrew Sellergren, Software Engineer at Google, shared the following post on LinkedIn:
“I’m very excited to announce the release of our latest research, CT Foundation! CT Foundation builds on our work from Med-Gemini in which we demonstrated the ability to generate radiology reports from whole-volume head CTs using genAI and our previous releases of CXR, Derm, and Path Foundation.
CT Foundation is an API endpoint that converts whole-volume CTs into information-rich numerical embeddings that are much easier to train models with. Using over half a million CT scans and their associated radiology reports, we trained a VideoCoCa model both contrastively and generatively to effectively compress CT scans by many orders of magnitude.
I’m really proud of our team for pushing the boundaries of AI in medicine, particularly with an aim toward democratizing access to state-of-the-art research.
In the attached video, you can see a left-sided nephrolithiasis and urolithiasis with stones in the left kidney, ureter, and ureterovesical junction as identified by a model created using CT Foundation.
