Alexandra Eni: Excited to Share Our Latest Publication on European Cancer Workforce
Alexandra Eni, Policy Research Officer at European Cancer Organisation, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“New paper alert!
Excited (and concerned) to share our latest publication, ‘European cancer workforce: under pressure’. It is clear: the strain on oncology professionals is threatening the future of cancer care across Europe.
Some key facts you should consider:
– By 2045, Europe should see around 5.4 million new cancer cases each ear
– By 2030, we could face a shortfall of 18 million healthcare workers
– 77% of cancer professionals regularly work overtime
– uncompensated overtime is significantly related to reduced workplace satisfactionThis isn’t just about numbers. Behind every statistic are dedicated professionals pushing through fatigue, administrative burdens, and emotional strain to deliver life-saving care.
When looking at regional differences within Europe, the disparities deepen.
We need urgent, coordinated efforts for better workforce planning, mental health support, and investment in training, to safeguard both our workforce and the millions of patients who depend on them.
Proud to have contributed to this vital discussion. Read the full paper for more insights and recommendations.”
