Al-Ola A Abdallah, Associate Professor and Plasma Cell Disorder Program Director of the Division of HMCT at the University of Kansas Medical Center, shared a post on X:
“Over the past 10 years, I worked tirelessly to build something meaningful, inspired by my mentor Dr. Makhoul.
I stayed positive, put others first, and helped many reach med school, residency, fellowship, faculty, and even promotion.
I gave up authorship, family time, and personal gain to lift others and launch programs, symposiums and consortiums.
The result?
Zero acknowledgment.
Maybe my father was right when he said, – ‘Academia sucks your life.‘”
