Abuja Accelerator – Elizabeth Ugwoma Awo-Ejeh’s TAAP Journey
Abuja Accelerator shared on LinkedIn:
“Elizabeth Ugwoma Awo-Ejeh’s TAAP Journey
Before joining TAAP, Elizabeth was moderately confident in her abilities but hesitant to step out of her comfort zone. A breast cancer survivor and passionate advocate for awareness, she faced challenges in finding the right platforms and mentorship to amplify her message. While committed to raising awareness about early detection and support, she struggled to turn her advocacy into impactful campaigns and reach larger audiences.
TAAP became a transformative experience for Elizabeth, equipping her with tools, mentorship, and an enabling community to amplify her voice. Notable milestones included being a panelist during International Cancer Week, where she shared her story and addressed challenges faced by young cancer survivors. She also had the honor of being a guest speaker on another platform, inspiring audiences with her journey and spreading awareness about breast cancer. These opportunities solidified her confidence and deepened her impact.
Through TAAP, Elizabeth launched Breaking the Silence: Battling Breast Cancer Stigma in Africa, an initiative addressing cultural barriers, fostering open dialogue, and dispelling myths about breast cancer. The program taught her valuable advocacy, leadership, and project management skills, empowering her to scale her work, collaborate with policymakers, and create lasting change.
Moving forward, Elizabeth aims to expand her initiative to reach more communities across Africa, providing education on early detection and free screenings for underserved women. She also plans to mentor other survivors, helping them share their stories and advocate for change. With a vision for systemic transformation, Elizabeth is committed to working with health organizations and policymakers to improve healthcare access and empower women across the continent.
Let’s celebrate Elizabeth for her courage, resilience, and commitment to breaking barriers and creating impactful change!”
