Abeid M. Athman Omar: Improving cancer management in Nairobi
Abeid M. Athman Omar, Clinical Oncology Specialist at
“Earlier this week, we had a busy training on the Multidisciplinary Cancer Management Course (MCMC) held at Sarova Hotels in Nairobi, Kenya. This is a collaboration between the City Cancer Challenge, American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), and National Cancer Institute of Kenya.
This training brought all stakeholders who are involved in cancer management in Nairobi city. We discussed and learned how to improve the running of MDT to improve survival.
I had an honour to be among the faculty for this course where I presented on management of breast cancer in pregnancy and pregnancy after breast cancer, which is a topic close to my heart – the oncofertility.
My institution, Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral & Research Hospital, as the leader in cancer care in Nairobi City, was well represented.
Many thanks to Beatrice Okumu Rolando Camacho, Julie Gralow, Miriam Mutebi, MD, MSc, FACS, Mohammed Ezzi Sitna Ali Mwanzi, Dr. Elias Melly, M.D., and the whole faculty which made it possible.”
