Abeid Athman Omar Reflects on AACR 2025 Meeting and Highlights African Participation
Abeid Athman Omar, Clinical Oncology Specialist at Kenyatta University, posted on LinkedIn:
“Last month I had an honour to attend the American Association for Cancer Research AACR 2025 meeting in Chicago, USA which had more than 30,000 attendees from all over the world. Sadly from Africa we were less than 20 individuals.
This was my first time to attend the AACR meeting. I learned a lot about preclinical research, phase one studies and translational medicine which made me really appreciate what it takes the cancer medications to reach our patients.
I had the privilege to be among the 150 who were invited to the Presidential dinner by the AACR president Dr. Patricia LoRusso where I had a wonderful network evening with the world renowned researchers.
I would like to sincerely thank Prof. LoRusso for her kind invitation and taking her time to introduce me to different members and making Africa her main project agenda.
Looking forward to future opportunities and collaboration.”
