AACR Thanks CBS and Ted Koppel for Spotlighting NIH Budget Threats to Cancer Research
American Association for Cancer Research shared on LinkedIn:
“From abrupt and indiscriminate dismissals of dedicated public servants at the NIH, to proposed major cuts to leading research institutions and cancer centers across the United States, to more recent efforts to slash the NIH budget by nearly 40 percent, the cancer research community has been under attack.
We thank CBS Sunday Morning and Ted Koppel for this powerful story highlighting the devastating and immediate impact of these unprecedented disruptions on cancer research and progress for patients.
The segment followed AACR Past President and Fellow Elizabeth Jaffee, and AACI Past President and AACR member George Weiner, as they visited lawmakers to advocate for cancer research funding during the AACI-AACR Hill Day on May 22. Drs. Jaffee and Dr. Weiner, along with AACR Fellow Steven Rosenberg, also shared their perspectives on how these cuts will limit options for cancer patients, now and in the future.”
