Aruni Ghose: A MUST READ – penned down by Mona Hassan and Akash Maniam
Aruni Ghose shared a post by Akash Maniam, Medical Oncologist at Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust, on LinkedIn, adding:
“In the words of my wonderful friend and mentor Mona Hassan – ‘With all the conflicts happening all over the world today in Palestine, Sudan and Ukraine, we as doctors should raise our voices. Patients should have access to care. Refugees have cancer too. We should have international policies to protect patients, to protect basic human rights. Cancer, dialysis, heart failure do not magically get cured if there is war.’
This is a MUST READ – penned down by her and Akash Maniam – thank you Ecancer.”
Quoting Akash Maniam’s post:
“The topic of cancer care in refugees is very dear to me. Mona Hassan and I wanted to highlight the importance and unique considerations when managing such vulnerable groups.
Thank you to Ecancer for the platform. We will build on this relatively data-sparse area of care.
And for me personally, anyone who treats or knows Ukrainian refugees with cancer and wishes to collaborate, discuss cases, get free advice, please contact me. I would gladly help.”
