Gevorg Tamamyan: Everyone involved in pediatric oncology needs to be part of our global movement of conquering childhood cancer with SIOP
Gevorg Tamamyan shared on LinkedIn:
“The wonderful trip to Japan is coming to its end! Thank you so much to our Japanese colleagues for organizing such an amazing SIOP Asia 2024 – the chair of the organizing committee Dr. Kimikazu Matsumoto, President of SIOP Asia Dr. Hiroki Hori and the President of the APHOG, legendary Dr. Akira Nakagawara, and all the organizing committee members.
Armenia was very well represented – Ruzanna Papyan was charing the session on neuroblastoma, Mery Petrosyan , Anna A. Avagyan, Alisa Kamalyan, Clodet Stepanyan and Garik Galstyan presented posters, and, of course, our Scott Howard, who has been everywhere.
As the President-Elect of SIOP Asia, I thanked all the SIOP members from the Asian continent for their support and trust. In coming years we will work together to maximally expand the Asian pediatric oncology community membership and involvement in International Society of Paediatric Oncology – SIOP. It will take a little time, but we will certainly get there. Everyone involved in pediatric oncology need to be part of SIOP, be part of our global movement of conquering childhood cancer.
As the President-Elect also for the POEM Group, I was honored also to give a presentation about the Group and its activities during the APHOG Annual General Meeting, and it was such an honor when legendary Dr. Nakagawara stood up after my presentation to shake my hand as a sign that APHOG and POEM will closely collaborate. In pediatric oncology cooperation is the key for success; this is the field, where regardless of nationality, race, religion or spoken language, we are united to save kids lives!
Asia is the largest and the most populated continent in the world and all together we need to make sure, that every child with cancer receives appropriate care!
P.S. On the first photo are the six Presidents of SIOP Asia (Prof. Hori, the current President, was not in the room that time), which I think nicely symbolizes the spirit of continuation of traditions and the connection and support between the generations!”
