Laura Esfeller: Life is good and we’re stronger than we think

”This time 8 years ago, I was at UCLA Health in surgery fighting for my life. My radical nephrectomy was 5.5 hours long while they removed my right kidney, adrenal gland, most of my IVC and 7 lymph nodes. Last week, I was at ASCO24. Life is good and we’re stronger than we think.”

Laura Esfeller is a Patient Advisory Board member for KCCure and a Kidney Cancer Patient Advocate at SWOG Cancer Research Group. Laura is a survivor of metastatic papillary kidney cancer.
Previously, she served four years as a Consumer Reviewer for the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Program’s Kidney Cancer Research Program. Apart from advocacy, Laura works as a marketing professional in the hospitality industry.
